This London home underwent a full refurbishment and phased extension, incorporating significant structural alterations and high-quality finishes throughout.
Works included a full-width rear dormer extension, a new side extension and the demolition and reconstruction of a two-storey rear outrigger, now expanded with a fully glazed wrap-around ground-floor extension. To improve energy performance, all existing brick walls were internally insulated, new double-glazed timber windows were installed, and floating timber decks were replaced with insulated floor slabs, increasing ceiling heights. Similarly, all new-build elements at the rear were constructed to high insulation standards, featuring triple-glazed aluminium windows on the upper level.
Designed by State Studio, the scheme balances contemporary interventions with the home’s original character. A relocated master bedroom in the new outrigger features a deep oak-lined picture window, while the interior finishes bring together character-grade oak, exposed concrete and deep green panelling, seamlessly amalgamating old and new spaces.
