19th Century Townhouse

This 19th-century Italianate Townhouse underwent a full reconfiguration to meet the needs of modern living while respecting the property’s historic character.

The five-bedroom, 3,500 sq ft family home had remained largely untouched for nearly 70 years, requiring extensive structural and interior works, including the repositioning of the staircase to unlock natural light throughout the house. This intervention transformed a series of smaller, compartmentalised rooms into generous, interconnected spaces that run the full width of the property.

Delivered in collaboration with interior designer Katie Harbison and architect De Rosee Sa, particular attention was given to restoring and recreating period details such as mouldings, parquet flooring and architectural joinery, ensuring the heritage of the building was carefully preserved. Bespoke craftsmanship underpins the property – from a newly installed kitchen featuring Breccia marble to custom-built joinery.

The result is a refined yet practical family home that balances historic character with modern design.

"This was an incredible project from start to finish. You're immediately blown away by the staircase - it continuously curves throughout all five levels, and features continuous fluted stringer which adds a completely different dimension to the build.

- Matthew Law, Project Site Manager
