Building ACT’s Future Home
Tucked away in a quiet Hammersmith mews, two neighbouring units are being transformed into ACT’s new Head Office: a space designed with our people, functionality and sustainability at its core. What began as a two-storey dwelling has evolved into a three floors of workspace, led by a vision to create a welcoming environment that brings out the best in our expanding team.
Working alongside State Studio, we’ve taken a fabric-first approach, incorporating breathable insulation, triple glazing, low-carbon materials, and carefully restoring the original Crittall frames. Our new office demonstrates how heritage, performance, sustainability and aesthetics can work in harmony. Due for completion this November, we can’t wait to welcome colleagues into our transformed workspace and see this new chapter for ACT come to life. More details to follow in the coming months!
Expansion of ACT’s Design and Document Control Team
September marked a big milestone for our Design and Document Control Team, which has grown steadily since January and now stands as a strong team of six!
Their work is steered by our can-do spirit: continuously refining processes, supporting project delivery and proactively collaborating across disciplines to ensure that design development aligns with the construction programme. We’re especially proud that this all-female group with varied international experience represents diversity within construction. With a meticulous attention to detail, methodical approach and strong technical knowledge, the Design and Document Control Team plays a vital role in driving quality and progress across every project.
Food for Thought
Our “Bring a Plate” lunch for National Inclusion Week was a delicious reminder that ‘can do’ isn’t just about projects and delivery: it’s also about people, and creating an environment where everyone feels included and empowered to contribute. Across our offices and sites, we came together for food and conversation, from home-cooked dishes to site BBQs! Taking time to connect, learn and recognise our diverse experiences makes working at ACT so fulfilling.
In the spirit of sharing and collaboration, in September our marketing team held a “lunch and learn” to showcase our brand and highlight best practice in its application. It was a helpful refresher on ACT’s verbal and visual identity, offering colleagues practical insights into the tools available to support their branding needs.
Marking Career Milestones
In September we were delighted to welcome Simon Elwin to ACT as our Property Manager within the Aftercare and Special Projects department. Simon brings extensive experience across maintenance and facilities management, having looked after everything from high-end residences in London and Paris to heritage sites such as Kew Gardens and West End theatres. Welcome to ACT Simon – we’re thrilled to have you on board!
A big congratulations go to Dominic Grech, who has officially stepped into the role of Site Foreman at one of our Holland Park projects. Dominic has consistently proven himself to be a real asset, and we’re excited to see him continue to grow further in his career with ACT. Well done Dominic!
We also celebrated a six-year work anniversary for handyman David Moreno whose commitment, positivity and willingness to go the extra mile embodies our “can do” spirit. Thanks David, for your continued dedication and for bringing enthusiasm and excellence to everything you do.
Celebrating Professional Growth
Scott Griffiths and Matt Reeve have both achieved MCIOB status with the Chartered Institute of Building. Their journeys embody our spirit of determination: Scott began his career at 16 as a building apprentice, and through his commitment to continuous learning and excellence has since progressed to becoming a Project Director. This achievement is a testament to their dedication…well done, Scott and Matt!
Town Hall: Reflecting, Learning, Moving Forward
Our September Town Hall brought teams together to review recent projects, share insights and celebrate achievements. It offered a valuable opportunity to explore the opportunities shaping ACT’s next chapter and to ensure that our collective expertise continues to set new standards in super-prime residential construction.
From celebrating recent project successes to sharing lessons learned, our Town Hall focused on how we can continue to evolve and innovate as we strengthen the foundations for future growth – keeping ACT moving forward together, as one team.
Thanks for reading and see you again next month. We’ll be keeping up the momentum as we head into Autumn!
