ACT
The long winter can be a time for hibernation and slower activity, but not in the world of ACT!
February was packed with positivity, exciting new initiatives and plenty of reasons to celebrate…
We kicked off the month with a fresh look at safety awareness, exploring ways to continuously improve safety onsite and welcoming in our new Health and Safety manager. Whilst safety is absolutely critical all year round, it’s useful to take stock of our safety practices, goals and commitments. At ACT, safety isn’t just a priority; it’s one of our core values.
To reinforce our safety culture, we introduced the Safety ACTivator initiative this month. This enhances health and safety awareness across our sites through a programme of site inspections and development support for the teams.
We also recognised safety champions amongst us – many congratulations to Hayden Symons as the recipient of this month’s ImpACT Award for embodying our commitment to safety! From comprehensive inductions through to signing off RAMS, holding morning pre-starts every day and his weekly toolbox talks, Hayden leads by example on our Knightsbridge site. He receives a £50 gift voucher, plus a morning tea for his team as a token of our appreciation!
On the subject of edible gifts….February provided delicious reasons to celebrate! On Shrove Tuesday we tucked into fluffy pancakes and tasty toppings, followed by a colourful candy drop to each site on Valentine’s Day….sweet!
It can be tempting to slow down on physical activity during the colder months, but we’re pleased to report that ACT’s Friday Run Club has maintained momentum! We’ve had a fantastic turnout lately for our 8km weekly circuit, with a team of runners preparing to take part as ACT’s squad in the Stockholm Marathon in June.
Finally, we’re excited to welcome new faces to the ACT family. Alongside an expanded operations team, Gaby Blinder has joined us as HR Advisor and Simone Adams as Marketing Executive. Inspired by the recent Times article where Sugababes star Heidi Range showcases her house renovation by ACT that includes a Ferrari in the living room (see it here), we asked our new recruits what features they would have in their dream home. Between them, their aspirations include a voice-activated coffee maker, a rotating shoe closet, a wellness room and a secret space in the basement hidden behind a bookshelf! We’re looking forward to getting to know you all better in the coming months.
Thanks for reading, until next month!
