ACT
In Victorian times, April was a key moment for renewing interiors (such as deep polishing furniture, making decorative furnishings gleam and redecorating walls). This cycle still continues today, as we’ve activated several new refurbishment projects recently!
It’s also been a month of fresh beginnings for several team members. At our first-ever Town Hall, we announced three key promotions to lay strong foundations for our current growth and future ambitions. Vanessa Blackburne is now heading up Business Development and Marketing. During the last four years, Vanessa has demonstrated her capability and adaptability in establishing both our HR and Marketing departments, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact that she will continue to have!
Congratulations also to Charles D’eca for stepping into the position of General Manager, guiding our Finance, IT, and People and Culture Departments. Charles has hit the ground running since joining ACT last October, introducing a number of employee initiatives including the Wellhub scheme and health care benefits, Town Halls, employee feedback surveys and staff check-ins. We wish Charles every success with his continued career growth.
Thirdly, Andrew Fluker is making a well-deserved progression into Project Management. Andrew has demonstrated strong co-ordination and collaboration skills as Site Manager, and is expanding his remit to become the PM lead for our Belgravia and Holland Park projects. We’re delighted that Andrew is taking the next step forward in his ACT journey and are looking forward to seeing him thrive as a Project Manager!
We’re also pleased to have made several new appointments. A warm welcome to Karen DeLoach (Senior Quantity Surveyor), Jack Fairbairn (Handyman), Jason Hatchman (Carpenter), and Ryan Jackson (Carpenter) as they all settle into their roles.
To us, integrity is as much an organisational as a personal quality, and we strive to create an operating culture that is honest, transparent and firm but fair. Congratulations to carpenter Thomsen Brownlee who receives the ImpACT Award for demonstrating his integrity-based approach. Thomsen holds others accountable, fosters excellence and builds mutual respect. He sets high standards and delivers with precision. Thank you Thomsen, we’re proud to have you on our team!
Turning to construction activity, we onboarded a number of new projects in April. Work has already begun on the refurbishment of a stunning double-fronted Grade II listed townhouse in the heart of Marylebone, starting with prepping the house for decoration.
Equally as momentous, our project within the art deco landmark “The Whiteley”, is underway. What a delight to be working on this iconic building that was previously one of London’s first luxury department stores. We’re looking forward to bringing the ACT touch of elegance to this home, in keeping with its glamorous history!
Finally, we honoured the ANZAC spirit on 25 April when we paused to remember the brave individuals of the Australian and NZ Corps who defended our nations during World War I. We shared a taste of home (in the form of Tim Tams, Pineapple Lumps and Shapes) for everyone to enjoy and remind some of us of our roots.
We hope you enjoyed hearing about our people and project news at ACT.
Until next month!
